Ordinary Portland cement OPC is composed of Following material 

1. Lime Calcium oxide (Cao)  60-65% 
2. Silica silica Oxide  SiO ₂    17-25%
3. Alumina Oxide Al₂O₃   3-8%
4. Iron Oxide ferrous oxide  Fe₂O₃   0.5-6%
5. Magnesia- Magnesium oxide MgO   0.1-4%
6. Soda + Potash  Na₂O + K₂O   0.2-1%
   
7. Sulphur oxide SO₃    1-2.75 %
8. Free lime     1%
   

Ingredients Of cement

• silica
• alumina 
• iron oxide 
• magnesia 
• sulphur trioxide
• soda and potash 
• Gypsum or calcium sulphate  

1. The magnesium oxide and sulphur dioxide when added in excess quantity makes the cement unsound.
2. In order to provide colour, hardness and strength to the cement, the ingredient used is  iron oxide
